Bypass Employees Contribute to Santa Train

SEKRI Bypass Plant contributes to the 73rd Annual Santa Train

The Santa Train is a charitable event that takes place annually in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky, Virginia and Tennessee with the help of the Kingsport Chamber of Commerce, Food City, Dignity U Wear and the CSX Railroad.  The train starts out on a 13 stop tour the Saturday morning before Thanksgiving each year, beginning in Pike County in the Shelby train yard.  The event is run on charitable donations and is focused on bringing Christmas to mountains and gifts to children and families in need.  Children receive a back pack of age appropriate gifts and clothing, food bags, fruit sacks, wrapping paper, toys, winter outer wear and books are given out to those in attendance as well.

This year The Santa Train received extra help providing winter wear items and toys for the children at the Kentucky stops of Shelby, Marrowbone, and Elkhorn City.  SEKRI Bypass employees filled 3 large boxes with gloves, socks, scarves, toboggans, tee shirts, ball caps, and toys galore! With the help of SEKRI employees and Santa, the children received a stuffed animal and gloves in conjunction with gift bags.  Thank you Bypass employees for helping making this Christmas and The 73rd Santa Train a huge success for these children!
